Even Scott’s battle with Nega Scott becomes a form of shadow work, not the destruction of his worst qualities, but the first honest recognition that they belong to him.
The episode ultimately finds its strongest hero in Knives Chow. She experiences first love, betrayal, anger, resilience, and finally the strength to let Scott go without needing to defeat Ramona or reclaim him. Scott Pilgrim does not pass the Castellini Test because nearly every woman’s conversation remains tied to Scott or another relationship, though the film still grants its women strength, complexity, and meaningful agency. Scott and Ramona step together into an uncertain future, but Knives is the one who has already learned how to walk forward alone.
